Galvannealed steel has a matte grey color uniform which can be easily painted. Thickness inches thickness inches galvanized galvannealed aluminized sheet. As a result some amount of powdering can appear when the metal is formed. May have minor scratching.

Galvannealed sheet can be formed much in the same way and by the same variety of processes as galvanized sheet. These will vary from british gauges with some exceptions. The gauges shown above are based on american galvanneal sheet steel manufacturers gauge thickness.

Galvanneal sheets offers good paintability weldability corrosion resistance and formability. Gauges 10 11 12 tolerances shown are for widths over 40 to 60 inclusive. Galvannealed steel is readily paintable. All other gauges tolerances shown are for width over 32 to 60 inclusive.

Galvannealed steel sheet metal also known as galvanneal is the result of galvanizing followed by annealing of sheet steel. Galvannealed steel is carbon steel coated with zinc using a hot dipped process. However the zinc alloy coating on galvannealed sheet is more brittle than the zinc coating of galvanized sheet. Avoid painted metal degradation with resilient galvannealed steel sheet and coil products from alliance steel.

18 26 gauge 48 and 60 wide products galvannealed sheet and coil are made with a cold rolled substrate or base metal that is hot dipped with zinc and then subjected to an annealing process that forms a zinc iron composite on the surface. The steel is then annealed which converts the zinc into a zinc alloy coating that offers increased corrosion and scratch resistance. The equivalent thicknesses differ for each gauge size standard which were developed based on the weight of the sheet for a given material. 60 x 120 galvannealed flat sheet a40 20 gauge item.

Has no protective film. Galvannealed steel has very similar properties as standard galvanized but the surface has a more porous and abrasive finish that more readily accepts paint. This is preferred over galvanized if the metal is to be painted.
