The care that you take with flooring preparation will help your new carpet to last as long as possible. If the new carpet is thicker your doors will have to be trimmed before they can be reinstalled. Many homes replace their carpet approximately every 10 to 15 years. At some point your installer may need to remove your doors to complete the installation.

Getting new carpet installed in your home is definitely an exciting time but it does require quite a bit of preparation in order to minimize any hiccups in the process. Installing carpet is a job you can do yourself to save money. As i previously shared the first thing we did was choose new carpet and padding. Most carpet installers do not perform carpentry work so it will be your responsibility to either trim them yourself or hire a professional to reinstall them.

Once you have measured asked for estimates and chosen a new carpet you must remove the old carpet.
